Woot.

For the first time in years, I am, for today at least, technically in the black for liquid assets. That is to say, my checking + savings accounts currently have more in them than I have credit card debt.

(Not included are my retirement account or my car loan, though I do have positive equity on my car so I have been well into positive net worth for a long time now.)

So, if I were to completely drain my savings (and not pay the rent tomorrow), I would be able to pay off my remaining CC debt, and still have $19.07 to play with. Of course, that's an insanely stupid idea, but it does make me feel good that I could.

In related news, Capital One's money market savings rate continues to plummet. This month is 1.59%. Oh well, at least now my withholdings have been switched from 0 to 2, with the difference being automatically deposited into that account. So now I'm making a small amount of interest on my tax "refund", rather than getting it back in one lump sum.

"Just pick a random Class C in the Ten-Dot range!"

  • Posted by Ryan Finnie on February 18, 2009, 12:03 am

Dear all of you,

You know who you are. Stop saying "Class C". You don't know what it means. And if you think you know what it means and you're still using it, please re-read the last sentence. The correct terminology you're looking for is "/24".

You're welcome.

ATTENTION

I got a "deal" at Circuit City's liquidation. This switch was $43 at Circuit City, $7 less than Newegg retail. ($3 more than Newegg after MIR... but screw MIR.) Still, that's after "25% off", and if you need to take 25% off to get back down to a normal price, do you wonder why you're going out of business?

Side note: I didn't just go there to wander; I actually needed a switch on short notice. I saw the 8-port gigabit D-Link with no price tag, and an 8-port 10/100 Linksys for $33. Of course there were literally no employees on the floor to do a price check (which is how I knew I was at Circuit City), and only one check stand open with a decent line (again, Circuit City), so I just took both up to the register. I asked her to check the price on the gigabit switch, she told me the price, I made my decision and asked her to take the other one. She gave me an evil eye. I did not feel guilty in the slightest.

  • @frankenspock Of course I can't prove this, and the tires on 1st gen were S rated (112MPH), but my speedo said 119.
