The Wii Accident

After 2 months of Wii ownership, it finally happened...
I heard about it happening to other people, but didn't think anything of it.
This is the controller after it happened. Notice the wrist strap.
You can clearly see the results.

I don't get it. Please explain for non wii experts.
He tossed his Wii-mote into the tube.
I thought he was just talking about how he got 7 strikes in a row and trying to frame it like all the people complaining about their busted televisions.
No really! I threw my wiimote into the tube! Don't you see the giant hole in the tube?!? It's right there!
I can't tell, get a marker and outline the hole! :)
