Dear fo0bar
Your order has been shipped out on 2006-02-23 by FEDEX-STANDARD OVERNIGHT and the tracking number is ...

One time I thought about making a LJ community for shipping junkies such as myself, to post their tracking numbers (I receive at LEAST 20 packages per month as part of my job). Then I remembered that it would be almost trivial to social engineer Fedex/UPS into rerouting an aribtrary package, with only the tracking number.

I would just like to say that cdpr is the greatest thing since sliced bread, and has made my life easier many times. If you work on a Cisco network, you need this utility.

I upgraded the RAM on the Mac Mini, from 256MB to 512MB. The procedure was rather easy, and only needed a putty knife. I scraped some of the plastic on the bottom of the chassis trying to get the knife in initially, but after that is was easy (and the damage isn't visible unless you flip the unit over). The memory is on the side and doesn't require removing anything but the cover, but from what I've seen, upgrading the hard drive would require much more effort.

Woo! Subway is now carrying Frank's hot sauce again! Though the classic Buffalo Chicken Sandwich is no longer on the menu, a Chicken Bacon Ranch, minus the bacon, plus hot sauce, is exactly the same thing.

It's now snowing, which means mass hysteria tomorrow morning.

I now know of 3 people who are looking to buy a Prius. They're all saying there's a 6-9 month waiting list. It's nice to know nothing's changed in the 6 years the Prius has been in the US. I keep saying that once my 2002 is paid off in April 2007, I plan on getting a 2007 model. I wonder if I can reserve one now...

In case you don't know the story of how I got my Prius... After Best Buy had screwed me out of some service on a laptop, I was driving around aimlessly, and pulled into the Reno Toyota parking lot, and asked a salesman about the Prius, which I had been looking at online recently. "At this point, we normally don't get any in, but one was delivered this afternoon." We took a test drive, and I liked it, but I knew I didn't have the luxury of sleeping on it, so we started talking. I didn't get anything below MSRP, but at least it wasn't higher. "You're lucky, many people are paying above MSRP for them now." He was being an asshole, but he was right. After 6 hours of paperwork and stuff at the dealership (among other things, needing to get insurance for the car added to my account before I could drive it off), I had a new hybrid.

Now in "scary medical things on fo0bar's body" news...

  • Posted by Ryan Finnie on February 4, 2006, 11:09 pm

I think I have pityriasis rosea. It seems to follow the symptoms from what I've read on a few sites... one largeish oval rash that appeared on my side a couple weeks ago, and now several smaller patches on my sides and neckline some on my chest/stomach, but nowhere on my back/lower body. They don't itch or hurt.

I should probably see a doctor nonetheless. I hate seeing doctors, as I normally feel perfectly fine, and I'm always afraid they'll tell me I have cancer or something.

  • @frankenspock More info about the Prius Bonneville test. Engine was "stock" mechanically, but yes, many more mods. http://ur1.ca/p9z0
  • @frankenspock Haha, yes. That car could totally beat even an out of control Prius.
  • @frankenspock Wait, that may have been Nissan. I think they were testing a Z when they said that.
  • @frankenspock Top Gear says Japanese Toyota performance cars' limiters disengage if they detect they're on a race track. Interesting if true
  • @frankenspock Of course I can't prove this, and the tires on 1st gen were S rated (112MPH), but my speedo said 119.
