I've created a page that details the various hacks and extensions used to get MediaWiki working well for the Finnix website, including an RSS display extension, an extension for displaying aribtrary HTML that other users can't edit, a way to make non-ugly wiki URLs, and how to display a Google AdSense block at the top-right corner of the page.

Also, why haven't you subscribed to finnix yet? It really hurts my feelings.

I now have a new Nerf weapon for the office. Much better than the old standby (we have a couple of those in the office). 8 shots instead of 6, can hold 8 more darts on the sides, faster cocking, and farther range. I also bought a modest supply of 60 darts.

Woo.

I wonder how many police cars are stolen per year.

I saw a cop car parked next to the $1.99 motel this evening. Headlights on, engine running, but no cop in sight. I suppose it's possible he locked the door, but I doubt it.

My current Firefox extension list

  • Posted by Ryan Finnie on January 23, 2006, 10:42 am

(I'm too lazy to find the links to each extension. Find them yourself.)

Live HTTP Headers (lets you see what is sent to and received by the HTTP server)
BugMeNot (database of logins for those annoying news sites)
User Agent Switcher (*occasionally* I need this to get into "IE-only" sites, but thankfully that rarely happens any more)
Flashblock (replaces flash content with a button to play it, instead of playing it automatically)
Viamatic foXpose (just added today -- click on an icon at the bottom left and the screen becomes a tile preview of all your tabs)

Go Google!

Google Talk now supports XMPP, which means it can communicate with the global Jabber network. So, all you gtalk users, now you can (and must):

* Add ryan@colobox.com and chat with me
* Add jenny@colobox.com and talk sexy with the lovely Jenny (who is currently a little insane because of an interesting set of database spams).
* Add tv@colobox.com and send messages to my TV.

7 Fedex packages and 1 UPS package should be at my desk Thursday morning. $12,000. Have I mentioned I love the part of my job the involves spending massive amounts of money on new toys?

Also, kudos to both mwave and newegg for getting orders out same-day, especially when the orders were placed at 3PM.

I came home today to find the WRT54G dead. No lights, won't reboot, just dead.

Thankfully I also have a WAP54G.

SCHOCKING.

In a completely unexpected move, Jobs has announced that Apple is now selling x86 machines. Who would have thought?

Update: Yes, I realize that I still have my xmas-themed hostage userpic up. It's about the "spirit" of the season, damnit.

  • @frankenspock More info about the Prius Bonneville test. Engine was "stock" mechanically, but yes, many more mods. http://ur1.ca/p9z0
