But seriously, MS AntiSpyware is pretty good. It found a log file from GAIN that spybot didn't clean properly. Though it also flagged RealVNC, but gave it a low risk and the default action was "ignore" instead of "clean". Basically it was saying "you're fine... as long as you were the one who installed this."

Drama-filled afternoon. Needless to say, I will be visiting a brothel tonight to help forget about it.
Anyways, check this out. Two packages, sent from the same city, both took the same route (and were probably on the same plane/truck, since some of the stops line up to the minute), but here's the kicker: they were shipped from two different companies (Mwave and NewEgg, respectively).

My LJ account expired last night. And NOBODY donated livejournal time to my account. I had to pay for the renewal WITH MY OWN MONEY!
Maybe I should get a webcam...

Josh, my boss, is very difficult to work with. But then again, so am I, so we somehow end up getting along well. I (and other co-workers) will often have arguments with him, but unfortunately, when so-called "facts" are part of the argument, he usually ends up being right. As a result, when we do win an argument, we like to rub it in as much as possible.
I got back this evening from a business trip to Salt Lake City[0]. I drove down with Josh yesterday morning (leaving at about 4AM, ugh) to install a new part of the network for the SLC datacenter, since we were the ones who designed the new network. We installed, got some sleep, and left today at about 9AM. Each way is about 8-9 hours, which gave us plenty of time to talk about life, religion, serial ATA, and all points inbetween.
In short, one argument gave me gloating fodder for awhile, since I now have TEH FACTS on my side! Josh, the gelling agent in McDonalds (as well as In n Out and several other) milkshakes is carrageenan, not gelatin. So there.
[0] This is technically too long to be a footnote.
pdx6 left a voicemail for me yesterday evening, saying he and others were going to Silver Peak for dinner. I called him back when I got the message:
<fo0bar> Yeah, I'd love to go. Would you mind giving me a ride?
<pdx6> Sorry, we're already here. Where are you?
<fo0bar> Salt Lake City.
[ long pause ]
<pdx6> You are an asshole.

Tomorrow I'll be working my ass off, preparing to drive to SLC tuesday, where I will work my ass off for a day, then return home.
I hope this "work" thing doesn't become a habit.

No new friends posts in over 8 hours, and most of the IRC channels I'm in are idle. It's almost as if the internet spontaneously got a life.

My laptop decided to crap itself this weekend. It'll reboot or shut down basically whenever I touch the casing. I can re-seat the memory, mini-pci card, etc, and it'll get better, but only for a half hour or so. Almost sounds like a short.
I have Dell's "next-day" service, which basically means "we'll next-day you a postage-paid box, which you next-day to us; we fix the laptop, then next-day the laptop back to you". Total turnaround time should be about 5-8 business days. (Yes, I understood when buying the laptop that "next-day" didn't mean "we'll have everything taken care of within 24 hours".) It's nice that they use DHL, so I can just call them and have them pick up the box from work.
