Sometime within the last 24 hours, l33t escaped. I noticed at about 8PM when I went to give him food. Must have finally figured out how to scale the water bottle.

I've spent the last 5 hours searching for him. This apartment is rather large when you get down to it, but there are only so many corners and I (thought I had) searched them all. As a last resort, I closed the bedroom doors, essentially turning the apartment into 3 zones. I then left a plate of food and a treat (yogurt drops) in the middle of each zone.

Sure enough, when I went back to my bedroom to go to sleep, the treat and half the food was missing. I searched the bedroom repeatedly without success. Then I heard faint scratching. Turns out the bottom of the dresser in the closet is hollow, and there was a rodent-sized hole in the back to reach this alcove. My first thought was to move the dresser and get him back to his cage, but he could probably just escape again. Plus, he's not being much of a threat (I'll just have to wash that part of the carpet). So I barricated the door to the closet and left some more food and water. Tomorrow I'll stop putting off buying a dremel, and will make a ventilated cover for the cage.
