Today TSA officials added "plaid" to the terror alert levels, between "orange" and "red", and immediately raised the level to plaid.
"They've gone to plaid!"

1) Protester sub-group turns a very peaceful demonstration into an evening of violence and vandalism
2) Protesters assult police officers, cars and horses
3) Police retaliate
4) Protesters claim unprovoked police assault
And of course they all carry video cameras. "See, the cops hit me! Unprovoked brutality! Oh, umm, forget about this footage of me throwing bottles at the cops and smashing windows..."
There are times where police actions are totally irrational to the situation. This is not one of them. Overall, it looks like the protest went very well. I'm really regretting not going down to SF yesterday.
On a related note, do you notice how if the protest is in the US, it's an "anti-war protest", but if it's outside the US, it's an "anti-american protest"? Do non-US people really think we're all the same as Dubya? I certainly hope not.

I discovered a kickass NES emulator today. Played for a little bit, a realized that using the keyboard for input was insufficient. So I went to wal-mart and bought a cheap $10 USB controller. Better, but still not authentic. I want a NES controller for the PC. No, wait, too "square". I want a SNES controller for the PC.
It doesn't exist.
Sure I've found a few sites that show how to convert a SNES controller to parallel. Parallel?!? That's two steps backwards as far as I care. Now, a company like Saitek could produce something like this. Hell, the controller I just bought has the exact configuration of a SNES controller: a 4 way digital pad, 6 front triggers and two back/side triggers. Copyright issues with Nintendo shouldn't be a problem; there are dozens of copycat SNES controllers on ebay, identical to real SNES controllers in ever way except no Nintendo logo.
I want a SNES controller with a USB interface. Now. Give it to me now!

Is 117.2 miles too far to travel to get an average pizza? Papa John's, 2221 Sunset Blvd Ste 123, Rocklin, CA 95765-4784. Not the best pizza in the world, but not bad, and I haven't had Papa John's in over 3 years.

Mind you, this was published 2 days before the shuttle incident. The web site pulled this after Feb 1, but I scanned it in from a dead tree newspaper (Reno News & Review).

* Two socks go in, one comes out.
* Halfway through your last dark load, you find a dirty black tshirt.
* It's impossible to have all clean laundry, unless you are a nudist, in which case what are you doing washing laundry?
That being said...
